Description:
Prunus americana, also known as the American plum, is a deciduous tree or multi-stemmed shrub that can form large colonies through suckering. It is adaptable to various soil conditions and is drought-tolerant. In spring, it produces clusters of white flowers, followed by 1-inch red plums with yellow flesh. The leaves turn yellow to red in autumn, and the branches are dark reddish-brown. This self-fertile plant can reach a mature height and width of 12-20 feet.
