Native to the Southeast US, this plant is found in lowland, open pine savannas and often grows with pitcher plants. It has narrow leaves that form a basal rosette and produces 20-inch tall stalks with pinky-lavender flowers. The flowers have central white buds that change to pink, with petals that twist back to expose white stamens.
