Renanthera monachica

Family: Orchidaceae, Genus: Renanthera

Description:

Renanthera monachica is a unique orchid species native to the Philippines, known for its striking yellow flowers adorned with bright red polka-dots. This compact plant typically grows to about 12 inches tall and produces two-inch flowers along upright-to-arching stems. It thrives in conditions similar to those preferred by Phalaenopsis orchids, requiring bright light and temperatures between 55-95°F. The flowers, which are a vibrant mix of red and orange, bloom for several weeks. This orchid is particularly suited to morning or afternoon sun and needs watering two to three times a week, or daily in hotter climates.
