Cornus alba

Family: Cornaceae, Genus: Cornus

Description:

Cornus alba is a fast-growing, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub known for its vibrant year-round color. Native to Asia, it features green foliage and yellowish-white flowers in spring, followed by bluish-white berries in mid-summer. In fall, its leaves turn purple-red, and in winter, its stems become a striking coral-red. This shrub thrives in moist conditions and can tolerate soggy soil, making it useful for erosion control. It is resistant to rabbits and deer and grows well in USDA zones 3 and up, preferring full sun to part shade. Pruning is best done in late winter.
