Description:

Polygonatum orientale is an Asian equivalent of the US native Polygonatum biflorum var. commutatum, featuring clumps of 3.5-foot tall stalks. In early May, clusters of white bells dangle beneath the stems. The plant's rhizomes produce smilagenin, which is used to treat cognitive dysfunction.
