Description:
This edible-pod pea with purple flowers has long hypertendrils that act as sturdy supports and grows 6-7 feet tall. It is a nutritious leafy green that is versatile in recipes and helps prevent mildew. The French variety known as petit pois produces pods that are half the size of regular peas and is rich in sweet pea flavor. The plant is disease resistant to powdery mildew, Fusarium wilt, and bean leaf roll, and is cold tolerant for early sowing. It produces 7-9 medium-sized peas in each pod and can be sown in early spring, midsummer, or fall for winter harvest in mild climates.
