Description:

Penstemon ovatus is a blue-flowered perennial native to the Pacific Northwest, thriving in moist, partly shady environments. Its flowers, which attract hummingbirds and insects, transition from blue to pink as they age. This plant prefers well-drained, compost-enhanced soils and begins blooming in early May.
