Taxiphyllum barbieri

Family: Hypnaceae, Genus: Taxiphyllum

Description:

This is a versatile and hardy aquatic moss, native to Southeast Asia, known for its deep green hue and thin fronds. It is commonly used in aquariums to wrap rocks or driftwood, providing natural shelter and coverage for fry and shrimp. The moss can be attached to hardscape or left free-floating and thrives in a wide range of water parameters with low to medium light requirements. It is suitable for beginners and can be easily propagated via division. The moss also helps oxygenate water and is popular among aquarists for its ability to form thick mats and moss carpets. It grows best at temperatures between 68 to 86°F (20 to 30°C) and benefits from CO2 injection for better growth.
