Description:
This boreal flowering plant is native to subpolar regions of Asia and North America, as well as Central Asia mountains. It is a hardy but short-lived perennial often grown as a biennial, with large, papery, bowl-shaped, lightly fragrant flowers. The plant has hairy, curved stems and feathery blue-green foliage. It prefers light, well-drained soil and full sun, and is amongst the best poppies for cutting. All parts of the plant are likely poisonous, containing toxic alkaloids.
