Description:
Originating from Peru, this small, beautiful cactus is solitary or clump-forming with spherical bodies about 6 cm long and up to 10 cm thick. It has 11-20 notched ribs and yellowish spines that almost cover the stem. The plant produces large, brilliant red flowers in clusters and is a summer grower species. It requires well-drained soil with sharp sand or perlite and is frost resistant if kept dry, hardy to -12°C.
