Description:

Pellaea atropurpurea, or purple-stem cliffbrake, is a fern native to North and Central America. It grows in dry limestone cliffs and rocky slopes, forming clumps of arching fronds with a purple stipe and rachis. This plant is endangered in some US states and prefers full sun and rocky alkaline soils.
