Description:

Coffea arabica is a flowering plant known for being the first species of coffee to be cultivated, making up about 60% of global coffee production. It is native to the highlands of southwestern Ethiopia and Yemen, thriving in light shade at altitudes between 4,265 and 4,921 feet. The plant features glossy, dark green leaves and produces small, fragrant white flowers. Its berries, which mature from green to deep red, contain the seeds used for coffee. Coffea arabica is vulnerable to climate change and deforestation, and it is considered endangered. It can grow up to 12 meters tall in the wild but is often kept smaller when cultivated indoors. The plant is toxic to humans and pets, except for its fruit and seeds, and prefers temperatures between 64-70°F.
