Description:
An Appalachian native from Pennsylvania to Alabama, this plant is great for rock gardens. It forms a 1-foot wide patch of open rosettes with 3-inch long by 1-inch wide thick green leaves. It produces 15-inch tall spikes of dark pink-lavender flowers in May and June and is a favorite of hummingbirds. The plant prefers an open site, not crowded by neighbors.
