Description:
This plant is a rare hybrid of Sarracenia purpurea and Sarracenia psittacina, named after 19th-century breeder William Court. It is one of the shortest and widest growing pitcher plants, producing horizontal rosy red pitchers with parrot head tops. The plant forms a low rosette of densely packed pitchers that turn deep reddish purple in winter. It blooms in early spring with slightly fragrant scarlet red flowers. Native to the wet pocosins of the Gulf Coast of North America, it is hardy to zone 4 and well-suited for terrariums and backyard bog gardens. It thrives in bright to partial sun and requires dormancy during winter.
