Agave asperrima

Family: Asparagaceae, Genus: Agave

Description:

Agave asperrima is a robust succulent native to northern Mexico and southwestern Texas, known for its rigid, upright foliage that ranges from green to glaucous grey. This plant forms a 3-foot wide clump and can produce giant flower spikes up to 15 feet tall after about 15 years. It thrives in dry, mountainous terrain and is winter hardy, making it suitable for xeriscaping. Agave asperrima is sensitive to winter moisture but is otherwise a reliable and low-maintenance plant for sunny locations.
