Berberis thunbergii 'Golden Carousel' is a compact, upright shrub that is a sport of Japanese and Korean barberries. Its leaves change color from golden yellow in spring to green in summer, and orange/red in fall. This plant is tolerant of urban pollution, deer-resistant, and hardy in USDA zones 4-9. It grows 3-4 feet tall and spreads 2-3 feet wide, thriving in full sun for the best color.
