Agave havardiana

Family: Asparagaceae, Genus: Agave

Description:

Agave havardiana is a striking succulent native to the Big Bend area of Texas and parts of Mexico, known for its large, blue-grey rosettes and towering flower spikes. This plant thrives on rocky slopes and grasslands, forming rosettes up to 4 feet wide with thick, spiny leaves reaching 20 inches long. It is a hardy species, capable of withstanding temperatures as low as 20°F if kept dry in winter. The mature agave produces impressive 12-foot tall flower stalks adorned with bright yellow blooms. Despite its resilience, Agave havardiana faces threats from habitat loss. Its unique appearance and drought tolerance make it a fascinating addition to xeriscaping projects.
