Description:

Mestoklema tuberosum, a shrubby plant related to the ice plant, is native to Namibia and the northern Cape of South Africa. It typically grows as a potted plant, reaching heights of 18 to 24 inches. The plant features a twisted caudex with smooth reddish bark and blooms small yellow-orange flowers from spring to summer. It thrives in bright shade or full sun and can withstand temperatures as low as the low 20s Fahrenheit. The plant is particularly eye-catching when its tuberous roots are exposed.
