Description:

Cattleya violacea is a widespread epiphytic orchid native to the lowland rainforests of the Amazon and Orinoco river basins. It grows on trees along rivers, requiring heat and moisture year-round. This species produces fragrant flowers on tall, reddish stems in late spring and early summer, with blooms that open flat and are long-lasting. It is one of the most abundant Cattleya species in the wild, particularly in southern Venezuela.
